FRANK ILLIANO
Biography

Francesco "Frank" Illiano was born in 1962 in the Italian town of Monte di Procida – the eighth of 12 children. He left home at the age of 12 and worked full time in a traditional Italian family restaurant. In his early twenties, after serving with the Merchant Marine in the Mediterranean and Northern Africa, he arrived in the US to work at a friend’s restaurant.

In the years since, Frank has:

  • Married and become a United States citizen.
  • Continued to build one of central Maryland’s most successful family restaurant chains.
  • Developed a portfolio of commercial real estate holdings.
  • Become a central figure in his local community.

Frank has worked hard to become a central figure in his local community of Mount Airy, devoting personal and financial support to countless charitable and fundraising efforts:

  • New York J & P Pizza in Mount Airy supports and sponsors kids’ teams in MAYAA (Mount Airy Youth Athletic Assoc), LUYAA (Linganore and Urbana Youth Athletic Assoc) and the Four County Little League.
  • Frank is organizer of the annual Taste of Mount Airy fundraiser for MAYAA and is currently working to develop new playing fields for the town.
  • He has been awarded Rotary Club Citizen of the Year, Mount Airy Outstanding Person of the Year and one of Frederick County’s Most Beautiful People (in recognition of volunteering).
  • He is on the board of the Maryland Restaurant Association, serves on the Mount Airy Economic Development Commission and is a member of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce.
  • He serves as a member of the Advisory Board, Sandy Spring Bank.
